The state approved climatic health resort at the foot of the Belchen with its welcoming town centre and the church known as the "Cathedral of the Wiese Valley" ("Münster des Wiesentals") is not only the home of the Elektrizitätswerke Schönau – EWS (Electricity Works of Schönau), which became famous as the rebels of the electrical industry, but is also the town where Joachim Löw, the German National Football Team Trainer, was born.
